19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former number one, has endured a difficult period, achieving just one win at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks his initial title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Victory also indicates Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at 21 different competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my two daughters at once, so to win a trophy is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev fought back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a tight deciding set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
